Cozy Flannel Carolyn Pajamas

I made a cute summery pajama set using the Closet Case Files Carolyn pajama pattern. I made the shorts and short sleeve version to be a comfy lounge wear option for when it's too hot for pajama pants but you still want something soft. To be honest the fabric is probably a little thick for proper summer wear but since Newfoundland is a little less hot than other places even in the height of summer it's kind of perfect.

I decided to not include the piping detail in this version since it would have added even more bulk to the seams which were already tricky with the thick flannel. I also couldn't decide on what colour piping would look good so that helped sway me from the path of making it work.

I had a hard time with the collar, it won't lie flat and I don't know why. The facing keeps flipping to the outside. I think I will try to make a luxe long sleeve version like the ones on the pattern envelope. How lovely would it be to have fancy pjs that look the best with some heels and pearls. ;)

With pockets! and cute cuffs :)

Gotta get all the angles :) I love how long the top is, it is actually a really flattering shape on me as I am slightly pear shaped these days and it is slightly tapered. The shorts could probably use a little bit of grading between the waist and the hip, right now there is a little too much fabric gathered around the waist for my liking, feels a little bulky and lumpy.

Progress pics! The pockets are these clever single pattern piece things where you fold it in half and stitch up the bottom. So awesome.

Mirror selfie when I first finished :) As is tradition.

I actually finished the shorts way before the top and brought them on a trip to Ontario with me and they work really well with just a regular sleep tshirt too :)

Bonus kitty attack photo!

ALSO I ALMOST FORGOT this was one of the items on my 2018 make nine! I am doing very poorly with this task, I definitely fail at a) not buying new fabric b) falling prey to the new and shiny. I will keep plugging away at it though, I think probably 6 out of 9 is more realistic.
