Gingham Ruffle Sleeve Top
Last summer I made the Ruffle-sleeve top from In the Folds for Peppermint Magazine, which is an awesome wardrobe staple that has had a lot of use since I finished it. This pattern pretty great, especially because it is free to download!

I made size D based on my full bust measurement (36") and it fits well except for the sleeves are a little tight - could definitely use another half inch width through the bicep. Though that could also be because the whole shirt is finished with french seams and I always seem to over do it on the seam allowance with French seams - something I'm working on improving!
The fit in the shoulders and chest is good, and the facing worked well. Also this fabric is a cotton with a visible weave almost like it wants to be linen which was a great weight for the pattern and I love the gingham with this style of shirt.

This top is great for casual times as well as my office since our dress code it's "business very casual". Here's a picture of me dressing like a crayon at work in front of a matching wall. Extreme crayon.

So if I were to make it again here's what I would:
- widen the biceps half an inch
- lower the v-neck half an inch, I think it's a little high for me
- lengthen the whole thing an inch
- Make the ruffle part of the sleeve wider so it's more gathered, for a more ruffley ruffle - this would probably work better on a lighter weight fabric

There are some really awesome sewists on Instagram who have made some cute hacked versions which you can see under the hashtag #rufflesleevetop. Now that I've done some scrolling I want to make a cute ruffle-sleeve dress!!
