Pink Coat Worn Three Ways
This versatile coat is the latest addition to my spring wardrobe... that I can't take advantage of yet because it's still too cold out! The pattern is the coat from McCall's M7635. I was looking for something with both a collar and a drapey lapel. Not a trench coat and not a wrap coat but something in between.

To show just how versatile this coat is, I decided to style it in three different ways - fancy, casual, sporty. First up is the fancy way - worn with a pink tie-front jersey dress I bought at Joe Fresh and I totally want to copy in other colours! I could totally wear this outfit out for a nice dinner on the town.

Next up is the casual "Brunch" outfit - worn with a plain white tshirt and white jeans. Definitely the most wearable of the three outfits - I could go shopping, grab some lunch, have a patio drink with friends and feel comfortable in this. The Coat really adds some flair I think :)

The final look is a little more out of my comfort zone but since I feel like the coat is a little bit 90s I thought a fun athleisure outfit would work! So here you go - a crop top and leggings with sneakers and a baseball hat. Tadah!

Original Idea for the outfit was a sportsbra and leggings, but then I got real with myself and realised I would probably never leave the house in the outfit below, whereas I MIGHT wear the one above. Either way It works :)

Now for some close-ups of the coat and talk about construction!
The fit for this pattern is VERY oversized, like basically no need to do fit test at all. There is a front and back yoke, the front is cut in two pieces and has welt pockets.
I used the softest, drapiest, twill fabric in dusty pink bought at Fabricville.
I flat-felled all of the seams, which the pattern doesn't specifically call for - they just say to press and edgestich... which is basically the same but without the nice clean finish inside! So that took some time.
I also drafted a facing for the lapel since the pattern didn't have one, and I really felt it would look much better not showing the wrong side of the fabric here.

Here is my inspo pic from Pinterest and the pattern envelope picture. Pretty good match if you ask me!
Construction photos! I shared a lot of progress pics on my instagram, including the stressful process of putting these welt pockets in right at the beginning! Overall they were a success, but I need to work on my corner clipping.

Flat-felled seams!

One more tummy shot! :P And a gif to end it all off.
