Sprout Patterns Kielo Dress

I ordered the fabric for this dress off of Sprout Patterns after envying the other versions I had seen popping up online for a couple months. The dress is the Kielo Wrap Dress by Named Patterns and when I first saw it come out I wasn't sure it would be my style (I think a lot of people were thrown by the styling on the pattern release) but in the end I am super happy with how it turned out! I actually used the pdf pattern that comes with your order when you purchase from Sprout to make a long-sleeve shorter version (will blog soon!) before I even cut this one out so that's two Kielos in the wardrobe already. But it really is a great pattern for a pretty quick sew, it has an interesting shape that is super flattering with the angled bust darts and wrap around wait ties. As you can see I made this to wear to my cousin's wedding, and it was pretty perfect.

Smiling into the sun a little - still looking good!

I did take some close up pictures of the dress at home when I finished it:

Full length shot, tied in the front and died in the back, both very cute.

The under-arm area fit really well, and for the most part I would say everything else was good too but if I make this again out of a non-stretch fabric like this I might add just a little more room right across the bust since it had a habit of riding up a little bit a creating a wrinkle right above the chest, also looking at these pictures it was pulling across the back in the same area (see below). Learning!

One issue with ordering the fabric using the Sprout pattern service is you don't really have much control over fit adjustments and pattern matching, you can move the design around a little bit in the preview of the dress which allowed me to avoid a red dot on my chest area, but as you can see from this lovely shot of my behind, I kind of have two big red splotches right over my butt. It really isn't a huge deal, i think they could have been much worse haha but if I was to make this from scratch (not printed out with cut lines as it is with Sprout) I would have been able to position the back pieces in a more pattern matching fashion.

I am not a dancer, do not be fooled by my attempts at modeling

Another option for tying that I have seen other people do is a knot right in the front without a wrap around (can also be done in the back I suppose). I didn't mind how this looks - a little more relaxed than the cinched in version.

One last picture of the best looking couple at the wedding! Well to be fair the bride and groom looked pretty great too but you don't care about them, you care about me! This is my blog afterall! I have the power!! Muahaha
