Striped shirt for the win

This shirt is not a new make but it is definitely a frequently worn one. I reach for this top when I want to be comfy but a little put together, perfect for a casual Friday at work or a drive up to the cottage with my family who loves to spontaneously post on social media regardless of what I am wearing or how slovenly I look. Better to be prepared! :D I do have to wear a white tank top underneath to avoid the occasional bra view, but that is ok with me! The fabric is also a little sheer so it's better all round.

Smiling' in my M6991

I made this top last summer out of some really light weight jersey with different width silver stripes running through it. The silver parts are kind of rough compared to the white parts which are really softs but overall since its so loose I don't notice at all. Again purchased at Fabricland i the remnants bin... I'm practically a dumpster diver when it comes to fabric shopping apparently!

I used McCall's M6991 for this, adjusting the pattern to suit a stretch fabric (basically just removing the ease in the back and cutting a smaller size for the arms, the front piece I wanted to be loose so I didn't adjust there too much.) When making this pattern you need a fabric that doesn't have a noticeable "wrong" sides since both will show right next to each other on the finished garment in the front section. It really is a very cool pattern and I will make one again in a woven for a more formal work top.

I tried but it was impossible to get a flattering photo of the back of this shirt in my office with the cell phone timer. There is nothing special to see back there anyways so I am not too worried about it. Also as you can see there is zero pattern matching going on here... but the sleeves are the same so that looks nice I think. Link to pattern below!

I want to make another version B and a version D in the same colours as the sample photo, maybe light pink and black would be cool too!
