Osaka wrap skirt for work
I made another Seamwork Osaka skirt, this time I lengthened it to be Midi length and instead of making it reversible I drafted a lining! You can see the first one, a reversible mini, on my instagram or in the "What I sewed in 2017" post.

I was first inspired to make this skirt after seeing a really pretty grey wrap skirt on Pinterest (pictured), which had a belt tie and D-ring closure on the side and a horizontal seam mid-way up the skirt. I didn't quite have enough fabric for a tie closure so mine is with snaps and a hook. I also kept the overlap pretty significant so it would be work appropriate, don't want to accidentally flash my whole thigh haha.
The pattern alterations -
- lengthened the lower segments by 7"
- added wide hem
- drafted waist facings
- cut lining using (both top and bottom pieces together for each panel)
- three point closure - flat hook at the far edge, then two snaps for security, one at the top and one part way down the flap

The fabric I used has a very subtle blue stripe running through it, you can see it in the close up photo here. I got the fabric on discount from Fabricville, it is straight up suit fabric, so not very easy to press, I think a wool lend based on the smell when I ironed it.
I think it would pair well with some of my white or light blue dress shirts as well as this monochromatic look I have going here with the grey sweater!

Showing some leg! Mostly this was to show that the modesty snap could prevent any wardrobe mishpas :)
Also I forgot to get any good pictures of the back, so I have this one, slightly blurry back photo.

Here you can see the lining, the facing is up along the top and then the lining is shorter than the skirt.

I was so happy we had a sunny day this weekend as I was starting to get quite a backlog of finished items I wanted to photograph outside. My lovelyboyfriend was kind enough to take some pictures of me in a couple things I have finished recently, this being one of 4 outfit changes! He will definitely be called on again next time! :D
One last shot - on the mannequin before adding the snaps :)
